If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. Warning, no ambiance! If we were going to stay much longer I would have asked the waiter to turn the TV down. It was very distracting. The setting is adequate; chairs and tables, greasy menus, bottles of hot sauce next to a napkin holder. The server brought a basket of uninspired chips to the table with no salsa. He was very nice young man, very attentive. Soda came in cans with a straw. The five stars are for the food. Excellent! We ordered a selection of dishes to share; a sausage taco, shrimp fajitas and a grilled steak burrito. The shrimp fajitas were perfectly prepared with just enough spice. Slivered peppers and onions were delicious, with tasty albeit lukewarm rice and fried beans on the side. a nice salad with fresh avocado was very nice but could have used lemon or dressing or something. We didn't get the homemade tortillas with the dish but didn't need it. The taco was excellent, chunks of sausage cooked nicely instead of macerated like so many chorizo dishes are prepared, in a nice soft tortilla. The burrito was amazing, a fresh tortilla with plenty of grilled steak, fresh avocado, rice and refried beans, lettuce and tomato and cheese with a drizzle of sour cream. It was enough for two people. we're from out of state but visit this area yearly and will definitely be back for more.

Arguably the most 'Jekyll and Hyde' place to eat in West Chester since they changed over from Don Gabriel's with new ownership. When I am on that side of West Chester, I will stop by here more often than not for takeout. New owners did do away with the grocery store and expanded the seating area. As others mentioned though, the TV is blaring loud (Telemundo) and the sitting accommodations are about as basic as they come. Good sign is that they still get a fair amount of Mexicans/Central Americans who come in to pickup takeout especially at lunch from guys in the construction trades. I used to love the mole sauce here but the last time I got it on a burrito it was overcooked and way too much cumin and chili powder. Love spicy/hot food but it made the veggie burrito almost inedible As for me, I would recommend sticking to the basics here and go takeout. Tortillas are homemade, guacamole is generally made fresh to order, and you can easily fill up here for $5-$6.

I came in here because it was located across from CVS and I was simply waiting for photos to print. An impromptu decision led me to experience one of the freshest tacos I have ever had! I walked in and was the only person there. The restaurant is big divided into different sections. It's basically one giant room with a kitchen through a tiny door. You won't be blown away. They have not dropped considerable money on decor and that's completely okay! The food will paint a picture for your palette. I ordered three grilled chicken tacos, and at a little over 2 bucks each, my credit card thanked me. They gave me salsa and chips while I waited. The salsa was fantastic. I gobbled it up and the tacos quickly came out. They have a salsa bar with over 10 salsas to choose from. Don't worry they label the spice level for you. I put three different salsas on my tacos and it was the perfect combination! I couldn't get over the flavors that were happening. The tortilla was clearly homemade and the chicken wasn't dry. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite, small price, and a slap of flavor then this is the place for you.

This is absolutely the best Mexican food I've ever had. I thought Don Gabriel's was good but this place does it way better. They make their own tortillas! Who else does that? Everything I've had here has been excellent and ridiculously cheap! The menu is huge and everything on it is excellent. Friendly service brings it all together. Go here and get some tacos. You won't be disappointed.

Large menu with a variety of Mexican dishes. The "salsa bar" was very limited and were the same puréed consistency. There was no tomato - based salsas available. Only one kind of cheese was available (mozzarella) and they did not have Oaxacan cheese or cheddar. Fajitas came hot but not very tasty. Service was okay, but the loud obnoxious television ruined the atmosphere.

So disappointed. This place used to be Don Gabriel's, which was my go to Mexican restaurant. Then the name and management changed and they did a little bit of renovating. So going in I thought, "Okay, well that shouldn't change the menu items all that much." Then I saw their menu and it had all the same things that Don Gabriel's had. Great, easy. I ordered the bistec sope and a couple tamales (chicken with red sauce). I got my food for take out, like I usually do, went home, started digging in. This is where some of the disappointment begins. The sope was okay. It was still recognizable as a sope. The tortilla was really thin at some points, but it was still edible. Well, so long as you removed the two super thick slices of avocado and the soggy/flavorless slices of radish from it. I have no idea why they even added that because they never used to add those things on top. But whatever, I just took it off and dealt with the thin bits of tortilla. It was still edible and relatively tasty. Here is where the meal really took a disgusting turn. A bite into my tamale, immediately I noticed that they decided that they should remove any depth from the flavor of the sauce and replace it with more spice. I don't like super spicy food, so I wasn't a fan of this change. So in order to get any enjoyment out of the tamales and not just waste them, I started breaking them apart and putting on lime juice to cut the spice. That was working a bit, so the flavor wasn't bad. First tamale was alright. Then by that point I was full, so I left my remaining two tamales for the next day. After reheating them, I started breaking them apart and adding lime juice like I did before. THANK GOD I started doing that because upon breaking apart the tamales, I discovered that instead of meat, they were both filled with gigantic pieces of what I'm guessing was ham fat (skin still attached and everything). Like 3/4 inch thick chunks of pure fat. There were little pieces of actual meat in the tamales as well, but very few. Blech absolutely disgusting. So glad I didn't discover that by biting into it. And for the record, I was not asking for them to mess up my meal. I was very polite and to the point when ordering and waited patiently for the food. I know to never be rude to anyone who is preparing or serving you food. They were far from busy at the time (they only had two other customers, both of which already had their meals) and I had a fairly uncomplicated order. So there was no reason for something as disgusting as those clumps of fat to be served to me. Clearly this new management doesn't know what they are doing and lacks standards. Never eating there again.

I went here on a whim and it was phenomenal! Probably the best Mexican food I have ever had. Everything was made fresh to order and was very reasonable priced. The décor leaves a lot to be desired but don't let that detour you from the excellent food you will get! I had the pork and pineapple tacos and a side of chips and guac, it was great. I will definitely be back.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
